1906: The Salvation Army in Denver said it would establish an industrial home for working men in the employment of that group’s social relief department.

1956: Dan Thornton, Republican senatorial candidate, accused his Democratic opponent, John Carroll, of using “the big lie technique” in trying to win the election. In Denver, 9,700 absentee ballots either were cast or obtained, some 1,300 below the 1952 record.
