Honoring veterans
Placing flags on graves | Fairmount Cemetery, 430 S. Quebec St. | 1 p.m. Saturday
To honor veterans, the community is invited to participate in decorating the graves of veterans at the cemetery. The project is led by Boy Scout Troop 52 and assisted by Cadet Girl Scout Troop 550. Meet in the Ivy Chapel at the cemetery.
Starry Night
Celebrating the Leonids Meteor Storm of 1833| The event, presented by the Tesoro Foundation at The Fort restaurant, commemorates the night of Nov. 13, 1833, when thousands of meteors showered the sky over North America. The phenomenon was seen and documented at the original Bent’s Fort and is regarded as the birth of modern meteor astronomy | 6:30-9:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at The Fort, 19192 Colo. 8, Morrison; $45 for Tesoro Foundation and Denver Museum of Nature and Science members; $50 for non-members; seating is limited, and reservations are required; 303-839-1671 for information.
Dr. Steve Lee, chair of the Department of Space Sciences and Curator of Planetary Science at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science will discuss the scientific and historical significance of that meteor shower. Dinner will be provided by The Fort, and, beginning at 8:30 p.m., the Denver Astronomical Society will provide telescopes for viewers to see the night skies.

More than 60 vendors will be selling botanical artwork, clothing, jewelry, home accents, holiday decor, hand-crafted items and pottery at the sale. members of Denver Botanic Gardens’ Guild will also sell homemade gourmet herbal vinegars made from herbs at the Gardens, dried flower arrangements and antiques.
