Avnet to purchase Access Distribution
Avnet Inc., the world’s largest distributor of electronic components, has agreed to buy Westminster-based Access Distribution for $412.5 million.
Access Distribution, a unit of General Electric Co., is a distributor of Sun Microsystems Inc. products. Access Distribution employs 400 people in Colorado out of its worldwide workforce of 600. Its sales this year are projected at more than $2 billion.
A spokeswoman for Phoenix- based Avnet said the deal’s impact on employment in Colorado is expected to be minimal.
