Triple-A Colorado Springs hitting coach Alan Cockrell is expected to receive the same position with the Rockies, one day after manager Clint Hurdle told Hall of Famer Gary Carter he was filling the position internally.
Hurdle confirmed Monday he had decided, but wouldn’t reveal his choice. When asked about Cockrell, he said, “He had some areas to work on when (he went back to the Sky Sox), and he addressed those.”
Hurdle added that an announcement on the hitting position and first-base coaching job would be made today or Wednesday.
