OCEANSIDE, Calif.-
The Whistler-Blackcomb resort in British Columbia, Canada, was No. 1 on a list of best snowboarding resorts named by Transworld SNOWboarding magazine.
Whistler-Blackcomb, the only Canadian resort on the list, will host the 2010 winter Olympics. Readers of the magazine lauded the resort for its challenges, lifts, lodging, food and overall vibe.
The list of top resorts, which appears in the magazine’s December issue, also includes Mammoth Mountain, Calif., at No. 2. Breckenridge, Colo., is No. 3, followed by Park City, Utah; Loon Mountain, N.H.; Northstar-at-Tahoe, Calif.; Vail, Colo.; Copper Mountain, Colo.; Squaw Valley, Calif., and Heavenly, Calif.
The magazine also had readers vote on top pipes, with Breckenridge taking the No. 1 spot, and top parks, with Park City coming in first.
TransWorld SNOWboarding’s rankings were based on an online reader survey distributed last spring. Readers were asked to rank resorts they had visited during the 2005-2006 season on a variety of criteria including park, pipe, snow quality, vibe, nightlife, food, lodging, lifts, value and challenge.
