SOLE FOOD
Huaraches
Los Carboncitos at two Denver locations: 722 Sheridan Blvd. (303-573-1617) and 3757 Pecos St. (303-458-0880)
Hungry and low on cash? A huarache will fill you up, and we’re not suggesting you eat your shoe. Huaraches are Mexico City street food, sandal-shaped oblongs of griddled cornmeal topped with beans, meat, vegetables and cheese. Los Carboncitos does them perfectly: crisp on the edges, chewy in the middle and loaded with spicy bits of grilled meat and crumbled white cheese. We like the Cubaño, with steak, ham and sausage, and the carne al pastor, marinated pork with a kick. Squeeze a lime wedge over it and enjoy.

TIME TRIPPERS
The Decemberists
Paramount Theatre, Denver.
Doors open 7 p.m., all ages-show. $17.50-$22, available through TicketMaster
Heavy on guitars, lilting treble harmonies and odd historical references, The Decemberists just meandered out of the Portland, Ore., music scene with “The Crane Wife,” their first major label release. Spin magazine calls them “whimsical, scholarly indie pop-sters,” and if that description confuses you, think Herman’s Hermits crossed with Shelby Steele with a side of Georges Seurat, and show up at the Paramount Tuesday to get the full effect.
