We’re Colorado proud.
CollegeHumor.com has ranked CU-Boulder the 22nd- best college in America – using the criteria of having the most fun while exerting the least effort. High praise indeed.
“We wanted to see where Ferris Bueller would go to college,” says CollegeHumor.com editor Ricky Van Veen. “Where would you go if you were lazy or had a trust fund?”
Michigan State is tops, but Boulder scores well in categories that include drug interest, ratio of women to men, hours the bars close, talent of visiting bands and availability of free condoms.
The illustration for the story is the April 20 gathering of 2,500 CU-Boulder students at the marijuana demonstration at Farrand Field – which is covered in a thick haze. We rule!
Glorious food
If Rioja’s Jennifer Jasinski doesn’t win the Food Network’s “Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast,” she was robbed.
The cookoff was filmed here in Metro Denver in March; it airs at 7 p.m. Wednesday. In five hours, four hot chefs created Thanksgiving dinners with a twist. Jasinski faced some strong talent, two from New York City and a guy from Sharon, Mass. The judges were no cream puffs – Jill Davie, Mark Miller and New Orleans’ star John Besh.
The Gabby Gourmet gathered more than 100 people at Rioja Sunday night to try out the meal – and they were wowed. I took a meal home, heated it up and my legs are still unsteady. Jasinski’s turkey two ways came with brined, roasted and moist breast of turkey, turkey sausage stuffed inside a boned and roasted turkey thigh/leg, moscato and rosemary glazed veggies, pinenut sage stuffing baked into muffins, potato quince gratin, salad and dessert. Thank you, Jen, thank you. You’ll find out if she won Wednesday night.
Getting really real
MTV’s “Real World: Denver” finally debuts at 8 p.m. Nov. 22 and the town will not let it arrive unnoticed. You can party that night at Lodo’s Bar and Grill, a neighboring hangout for the cast during the filming of the series this summer. Tyrie from Omaha will be there to shmooze, sign autographs and watch the show, probably in horror.
On Nov. 24 there’s a second “Real World” party at Vinyl with three cast members, Brooke, Alex and Stephen. Also the same night at Vinyl is Carmelo Anthony’s Shoe Release Party, with his posse and various Nuggets, Avalanche, Broncos and NBA players. Vinyl will rock that night.
