A wintry storm has brought icy, snowpacked roads to the high country, slowing travel on I-70. As of 3 p.m., Glenwood Canyon had been closed for a short while but is now re-opened with driving termed treacherous by the Colorado Dept. of Transportation. Vail Pass is icy and snowpacked, with numerous truck pulled to the shoulders to put on chains.

The storm isn’t expected to impact Metro Denver, which will turn cloudy and windy this evening. Tuesday might bring rain showers and more wind but temperatures will remain well above freezing.

The high mountains from Steamboat Springs south to Aspen will have blizzard conditions tonight with winds as high as 50 mph with heavy snow, according to the National Weather Service.
