Denver police are looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who died over the weekend alone in his house in an exclusive area of East Denver.

A housekeeper entered the house on East 7th Avenue near Monroe Street Monday morning and found the body. She called police, who originally treated the death as a possible suicide.

Investigators say there are a number of suspicious circumstances and the death now appears to be a homicide, said police spokesman Sonny Jackson.

The man has not been identified publicly by police. The Denver Coroner will autopsy the body.
