A suspect has been arrested in a hit-and-run accident in October that killed an elderly woman in Denver.

Police announced this morning that Pablo Alcala, 50 was arrested on Monday.

Berdie Friedman, 79, was hit at the intersection of Colfax and Quitman on Oct. 17.

She died two weeks later.

Friedman, a great-grandmother, ran a beauty salon out of her home in the Sloan’s Lake neighborhood for two decades.

Police credit intensive investigation by two detectives in identifying Alcala.

He faces multiple charges and is being held at the Denver City Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.

Denver Post reporter Manny Gonzales contributed to this report.
