More than 100 mourners paid their respects to Rebecca Bingham and her children, Macie and Garrison, at Tuesday night’s visitation service at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary in Centennial.

A steady stream of relatives and friends have surrounded Frank Bingham in recent days. He is the sole survivor of a hit-and-run crash that killed his wife, 4-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son Friday night in downtown Denver.

A Superman cape was draped over Garrison’s casket, a reminder of the costume he loved to wear, while Macie’s held a pink teddy bear and Rebecca’s a thin tiara.

The visitation was a prelude to today’s funeral at 2 p.m. at Colorado Community Church, 3651 S. Colorado Blvd. in Cherry Hills Village.

More than 1,000 people are expected to attend today’s funeral service.

Before Tuesday’s ceremony, a family friend and Bingham’s brother-in-law said Frank Bingham is trying to understand why this happened but he is not focusing on the suspects in the case.

“Just look at pictures, seeing that I’ll never see them again. It’s hard to imagine that,” said brother-in-law Robert Stone, according to 9News.

Friend John Youngquist said Frank Bingham does not remember the accident.

“He does speak of a moment of urgency and not being sure what to do. That’s his last memory,” said Youngquist.

Frank Bingham also wants people to bring children’s books to donate at the funeral, according to news reports.
