Plus, Spears shut K-Fed’s phone off and canceled his credit cards. A source said, “even his mother could not get ahold of him.” Federline didn’t starve. He and his eight-person entourage ate a free dinner at downtown burlesque joint Corio, the source said. The classy Federline “kept ordering more and more food and then asked for it to be put in containers so he could take the food out to the clubs with him,” the source said. K-Fed reportedly tried to sneak bottles of tequila and vodka out of the club.

Katie Holmes may be planning a sexy surprise for her new hubby. MSNBC.com reports Tom Cruise’s bride-to-be spent more than $3,000 at Le Bra Lingerie in West Hollywood. Among the purchases: a silk nightgown with a matching robe trimmed with ostrich feathers for $620, a $440 bra; a $340 thong; a $220 garter belt and silk stockings (only $95).

Renee Zellweger finally is speaking out about her brief marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney. Zellweger told Now magazine: “I made the biggest mistake of my personal life … I don’t want anyone to think I didn’t take it seriously. There was no alternative but to let it go. I don’t believe in hanging on to relationships if they aren’t working. And this wasn’t going to work.” Zellweger had the marriage annulled after only four months.

Angelina Jolie’s reps denied she planned to adopt an Indian baby. But the New York Post’s Cindy Adams reports while Jolie was working in India, the actress hired a tutor to teach her Hindi to aid the adoption process.

Lucinda Williams got a surprise guest at her Nov. 10 concert at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire Theater. A concertgoer told the New York Post Bruce Springsteen joined Williams for two songs – “Disgusted” and “Joy.” “This is one of those things you remember all your life,” Williams said from the stage.

Speaking of surprise performances, Liza Minnelli was a bat mitzvah singer last weekend. Minnelli sang five songs at the event for Charlotte Kassimir, 13-year-old daughter of hair transplant guru Dr. Joel Kassimir, the New York Post reported. Minnelli, a longtime family friend who commands $250,000 a show, performed for free and told Charlotte, “Enjoy being a girl because life goes by in a snap.”

Sacha Baron Cohen, still in his “Borat” character after an appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” was punched in the face several times after trying to pull a prank on a New York City passer-by. The Sun in London reported, Cohen approached a man and said: “I like your clothings. Are nice! Please may I buying? I want have sex with it.” The bystander punched Cohen, who was rescued by actor pal Hugh Laurie, who also appeared on “SNL.” Studio bosses warned Cohen to stop spoofing the Kazakh TV reporter on the streets.
