CBS4 sportsman Reggie Rivers is out with his fourth book – the first one that’s not about football. “My Wife’s Boyfriend & Our Feud with the Highlands Ranch Homeowners Association” is a funny look at a guy whose marriage is melting down as he fights his HOA over a van parked in his driveway.
“So many of my friends told me about these petty disputes with their HOAs,” Rivers says. “And I just chose Highlands Ranch because it seems so emblematic about the type of suburb I’m writing about.”
For the record: Rivers lives in Wash Park – and his wife, Stephanie Rivers, does not have a lover.
The hero of the novel calls his wife “Bassiff.” Rivers writes that it stands for BASF – from the TV commercials, “We don’t make the things you love. We just make the things you love better. We’re BASF.” He does not call Stephanie “Bassiff” however.
You’ll recognize plenty of landmarks in the book, which opens with a couple staying late at Panzano restaurant, then checking into the Hotel Monaco upstairs for some steamy, errr, conversation.
Later in the book, some guys have a tamer time at the Palm.
Rivers is poking fun at the ‘burbs – but he’s not scared. On Dec. 6, he’s going to the belly of the beast – a book signing at the Tattered Cover in Highlands Ranch. You can check it all out at reggierivers.net.

I love my neighborhood paper, the Glendale Cherry Creek Chronicle. The November issue reports that Mayor John Hickenlooper is fighting graffiti, “one of the most ancient scrooges of urban life.”
I also like the Bachelorette of the Month, Kaulene Henson, who’s looking for a guy who “leverages an optimistic view of global happenings.”

Realtor Nina Kelly was born Flaminia Odescalchi, daughter of Prince Gyalma Odescalchi.
