Double India Pale Ale, $11 per 1-liter bottle
When bigger beers are built, Americans will build them.
The new wave of American brewers has latched on to India Pale Ale, an old British style laded with alcohol and hops to help it reach India unspoiled.
Grand Teton Brewing in Victor, Idaho, takes the style even farther with its Double India Pale Ale. A double dose of hops and 7.5 percent alcohol (by volume) make it a mouthful of bright flavors with spritz on the tongue and a hop aftertaste.
The brewery suggests serving it with prime rib or Thai dishes.
Part of the brewery’s Cellar Reserve line of beers, Double IPA is available in limited quantities in California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
