Eddie Murphy says a difficult divorce helped his performance in the movie “Dreamgirls,” which opens Christmas Day. “It was real emotional,” Murphy said Monday on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” where he appeared with Jamie Foxx, Beyonce and other members of the cast. “You get on the set and when you’re acting. … (it took) me to a different place emotionally,” he said. Murphy also joked that his character, James “Thunder” Early, appears to be ruthless to everyone but real music executives.

“All the executives from the studio and the music places called me and said, ‘Hey, I love the character.”

Yohane Banda, father of the baby boy Madonna adopted, has remarried, Hello! magazine’s website reported. Banda, a 32-year-old vegetable farmer, married his pregnant girlfriend, Flora Kamanga, in his native Malawi on Friday afternoon. A Malawian judge postponed Monday a scheduled ruling until next week on a challenge to adoption plans by Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie.

Michael Flatley left a London hospital Saturday after a 14-day stay for a severe viral infection, according to several British media reports. A spokesperson said Flatley, 49, hopes to reschedule his cancelled dates for the European “Celtic Tiger” tour next year.

Rapper The Game has accused New York police of setting him up after he was arrested last week for impersonating an undercover officer. The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, allegedly told a taxi driver he was a cop in an effort to persuade the man to run a series of red lights after his appearance on “The Late Show With David Letterman” last Thursday. The Game, quoted by contactmusic.com said, “This is a ploy by the hip-hop police to humiliate me because they harass and follow me every single time I come to New York.”
