The body of a man was found on the light rail tracks Friday evening between Englewood and Evans stations.
Englewood police responded to a call from RTD after a light rail driver reported hitting something around 6:45 p.m. Police will not confirm that the man died as a result of being struck by the train.
Investigators found an ID with the body but were not able to verify that it belonged to the victim, who police say may have been in his 40s.
“It’s going to be difficult to identify him based on the injuries he received,” said John Hoehler, an investigator with the Englewood Police Department.
The light rail driver apparently did not see the man before hitting him, Hoehler said.
He would not speculate on whether the incident was an accident or a suicide. The man was struck about one-half mile from from the nearest station, in an area not used by the public.
