Frontier flight attendants have decided not to form a union with the Teamsters, said Teamsters Local 961 president Matthew Fazakas.

It was the fifth time flight attendants at Frontier have voted on whether to form a union over the years.

The flight attendants voted by phone after receiving ballots that were mailed Nov. 7. Ballots were counted today.

An independent group, the Frontier Flight Attendants Association, also filed for an election but did not make the ballot.

Of 887 eligible flight attendants, 334 cast votes for the Teamsters and two voted for other representation. The Teamsters would have needed 445 votes to win.

“This is the fifth time that our Company has been approached by unions looking to increase their membership by adding our flight attendants to their rosters and this is the fifth time that our flight attendants have emphatically told them ‘no,'” said Frontier chief executive Jeff Potter in a written statement.

Frontier has fought efforts to unionize. In past years, the Association of Flight Attendants unsuccessfully tried to organize the Frontier flight attendants.
