TUNED IN

Portable music players make working out less of a chore and more entertaining, and now there’s one that incorporates fitness features as well as favorite tunes. Sony’s S2 Sports Walkman MP3 Player, $120 or $150, has a pedometer, stopwatch, calorie counter and FM tuner as well as 1 or 2 GB of storage. The cylindrical shape sets it apart as does the Shuffle Shake feature, which lets you turn off the music shuffle feature by shaking the player three times. And the music pacer lets you create running and walking play- lists, which the MP3 player turns on depending upon your speed. Info at sonystyle.com/run

SKATING PARTY

Wondering what to do with that candy-cane-and-Christmas-tree-embroidered sweater your grandmother gave you eons ago? Wear it Thursday night and skate for free at the Rink at Belmar, in Lakewood’s Belmar development. Normal admission is $6 for adults and $4 for kids (skate rental is $2). On tacky-sweater night, you can even win prizes, and they’re taking warm clothing donations for Jeffco Action Center. Be on the ice by 7 p.m. for the judging. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. They’re also doing date nights on Tuesday when two can skate for the price of one, and 2-for-1 entrees are also available at participating restaurants. Go to belmarcolorado.com for details.
