NEW YORK-

For the traveler on your gift list who loves to party, how about a guide to the parties of the world?

In honor of its 25th anniversary, the travel publishing company Rough Guides has published a book called “World Party” ($25) that lists the best parties and festivals around the globe.

The guide provides information on more than 200 festivals. The events are listed chronologically and by continent.

The top 10 parties across the globe according to “World Party” are:

–The Rio Carnival in Brazil, which takes place in late February in 2007;

–Key West, Fla.’s Fantasy Fest, which precedes Halloween each October;

–Fiesta de San Fermin, also known as the running of the bulls, in Pamplona, Spain, July 6-14;

–The Glastonbury (England) Festival, a music event at the end of June;

–Oktoberfest, for beer-lovers, in Munich, Germany;

–The on-again, off-again Love Parade in Berlin, a music-and-free love festival in mid-July that is so controversial it was cancelled in 2004 and 2005;

–New Orleans’ Mardi Gras;

–Trinidad’s Carnival (also late February in 2007);

–Queen’s Day, an anything-goes celebration, held in honor of the birthday of Holland’s reigning monarch, Queen Beatrix, April 30;

–The Burning Man festival, the sometimes freaky arts bash held in the desert in Black Rock City, Nev., each year the week before Labor Day.
