Baby steps through the shopping list will take you to a bunch of brand new stores, plus a few with new locations.
It’s only 2 weeks old, so there are tons to choose from at Jillie Beans Toys & More in the new Westminster Crossings shopping center west of Interstate 25 at 136th Avenue (303-452-5885). Jillie Beans specializes in creative play toys, including sweet wooden puzzles from ImagiPlay in Boulder, but there are, of course, concessions to the craze of the day: tiny stuffed dogs in tiny purses.
At Simon Says Read, open in Stapleton Town Center (7351 E. 29th Ave., 303-333-7323) for almost a month, parents can park the kiddos for storytime on Mondays and then poke around the stacks. John Blessing’s shop is devoted to kids’ stuff, but also gets in the New York Times bestsellers for adults every week. The shop doesn’t have a sign yet, so look for the giant orange dog out front.
Up in the hills, HearthFire Books of Evergreen is open in a new location in the Bergen Village Shopping Center (1254 Bergen Parkway, 303-670-4549). They’ve packed in even more books for kids 14 and under and the staff has pretty much read everything and is happy to make suggestions.
Petite Patoot has been open since August at its new location (1238 S. Broadway, 303-665-8161). The new space means more room for sale-priced, in-season togs with labels like Oilily, Baby Lulu, Miniman, Catimini, Little Mass, Absorba, Zutano.
Chic Studio Bini, in Lowry Town Center (303-366-5644) and on Speer in the Golden Triangle (303-477-3227) still sells its own line of funky, retro fashion for infants, toddlers and little kids, but has added accessories, toys and shoes.
Janie and Jack, a division of Gymboree, just opened a second shop, in the Park Meadows mall (303-858-9922), stocked with sweet, cozy heirloom-look gear for the tiniest tots, from preemies to 5T. This year’s holiday line includes a lot of fleecy outerwear, and clothes with darling hand embroidery. Ask and your gift will be wrapped free.
