Mapleton Public Schools
Adams County School District 1
Adams County School District No. 1 was originally organized in 1903. In 1955, there was a reorganization of the school districts and Districts 1 and 16 were combined to form Adams County School District No. 1, Mapleton Public Schools.
When Mapleton High School was established in 1956, the southern part of the district was mostly agricultural land, consisting of small “truck farms” that were operated mainly by families of Italian- and Japanese-American descent. The main crops were vegetables that were trucked to the Denargo and Wazee markets in north Denver. The north end of the district was primarily zoned residential.
