The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League got a game-winning goal from Scott Polaski to earn a 3-1 victory over the host Rocky Mountain Rage at the Broomfield Event Center on Wednesday.

Brad Williamson became the first Eagles player to reach 200 games played. The Eagles improved to 4-2 in their season series with the Rage.

Artemev invited to American Cup

Alexander Artemev, a resident of Morrison who collected four medals at the recent world gymnastics championships, will represent the United States at the American Cup in March. Artemev, the reigning national champion, was the only U.S. man to medal at worlds, taking the bronze on pommel horse.

CU’s Nu’u gets volleyball honor

Ashley Nu’u, a senior setter on the University of Colorado volleyball team, was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association all-Central Region team, voted on by a panel of AVCA members.

Rosales, Aweida named soccer All-Americans

Miguel Rosales, a forward from Smoky Hill High School, and Ryan Aweida, a midfielder from Broomfield High School, were among 78 players selected to the 2006 National Soccer Coaches Association of America boys high school All-America team.

Four CC soccer players lauded

The Colorado College men’s soccer team placed Dave Khuen, a junior goalkeeper, and Wes Rikkers, a sophomore defender, on the Association of Division III Independents first team. Brian Tafel, a senior midfielder, and Trevor Cobb, a freshman forward, were tabbed to the honorable mention list.

Former South star named first-team all-ACC

University of Miami defensive end Calais Campbell, a graduate of Denver’s South High School, was named to the all-Atlantic Coast Conference first team last week in a vote of the league’s head coaches. Campbell, a sophomore, recorded 20 tackles for losses to lead the ACC and his 10 sacks ranked second in the conference.
