Sgt. Yevgeniy Ryndych, a member of the 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Carson, died Wednesday in combat in Iraq, the Army said.
Ryndych was killed when a land mine exploded while he was on patrol in Ar Ramadi.
Ryndych, 24, from Brooklyn, N.Y., joined the Army five years ago on Oct. 6, 2001, right after the 9-11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
