WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep.-elect Ed Perlmutter gained a seat Tuesday on the House Financial Services Committee, where he’ll deal with housing issues, monetary policy, banking and the financial markets.

The committee was one of Perlmutter’s top choices, he said. The Golden Democrat said he’s interested in tackling affordable-housing issues, lending practices that have led to high foreclosure rates and the financial dealings of some of the large lenders, such as Fannie Mae.
