“The Body of Color” showcases rarely shown works of Oiticica
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, collaborating with the Projeto Hélio Oiticica, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will document, conserve and exhibit the paintings and objects of Brazilian artist Hélio Oiticica (1937-1980) over several years. “Helio Oiticica: The Body of Color” is on display in the Upper Brown Pavilion until April 1, when it will travel to the Tate Modern in London for an exhibit June 7-Sept. 3. Because Oiticica never sold his work, the display features about 95 percent of his lifetime production, 220 pieces. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonnet St., 713-639-7300 or mfah.org
