No fan of Sky Sox North
The Colorado Rockies officially became the “Sky Sox North” last week. They might as well change their uniforms to blue jean overalls, straw hats and oil rags because farming out to the major leagues is the only thing they do well.
I don’t think Jason Jennings was going to sign with the Rockies for any amount. Management could have come in with an offer of $13 million a year and he still would have bolted. So they low-ball the offer and make him look like the bad guy for not wanting to negotiate.
I consider myself the last line of defense when it comes to the Rockies. I’ve been in their back pocket for 14 years. I’ll still go to opening day/ Father’s Day because it’s a family tradition, but they can forget about me and my money being there the rest of the season.

Pardon for Jennings
Congrats to Jason Jennings. Dan O’Dowd has given him a pardon to play for a “non-last place” team. He’s closer to his home (Dallas) and the only losers are, again, the fans. So much for rebuilding from within.

No Shanahan booster
Five things that we know about the “Mastermind”:
You will consistently miss on 60 percent of your draft choices and free-agent signings;
You will sign players of known “bad character”: Dale Carter, Bill Romanowski, Daryl Gardener and Todd Sauerbrun;
You will consistently make bad play calls and in-game decisions;
You will stab coaches and players in the back for your own ambition: Dan Reeves, Wade Phillips, Greg Robinson, Alex Gibbs, Bubby Brister and Jake Plummer;
You will overstay your welcome.
Nice body of work, Mr. Shanahan.

Crabby in California
Despite four losses in a row (the last an honest to goodness butt-kicking), the first Chargers season sweep in 24 years, yet another all-time record set during a game against the Shanahan Broncos (this one a very cheap shot when the game was obviously decided), challenging a call when ill-advised and not challenging a call when clearly called for, our coach might still be, for all I know, on the Qualcomm Stadium field hugging and patting L.T., smiling, apparently having a grand old time. Heaven help us. Please. Soon.
