The inaugural committee for Gov.-elect Bill Ritter has received commitments worth $500,000 from corporate and individual contributors, Ritter spokesman Evan Dreyer said Sunday.
The inaugural will cost about $750,000, but the rest of the cash will be raised through ticket sales to the event, Dreyer said.
The campaign said it will release the donors’ names later.
The campaign also announced entertainment for the event. Country music singer Jessi Colter will headline the Jan. 12 concert at the Colorado Convention Center’s Wells Fargo Theatre.
“We’re extremely pleased a musician of Jessi Colter’s caliber will be the main act for Gov.-elect Ritter and Lt. Gov.-elect (Barbara) O’Brien’s inaugural concert,” said inaugural committee co-chairs Frances Koncilja and James Crowe. “This will be a wonderfully entertaining night.”
Other scheduled entertainment includes Mariachi Vásquez, Spirituals Project Choir and Kissidugu.

Man accused of using van in murder try
A Thornton man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly hitting a 25-year-old man with a van, police said.
Laron Brown, 28, is accused of backing out of a driveway at the Riverdale Mobile Home Park in the 8500 block of Madison Court on Friday night and first hitting the victim’s vehicle with a van, Adams County sheriff’s officials said in a news release.
The victim then attempted to block Brown and the van from leaving after the accident, police said. Brown got out of the van, started arguing with the victim, got back into his van and intentionally hit the man and drove away, police investigators said.
On Saturday, a witness reported seeing the van in the 2100 block of Coronado Parkway.
