Criminal charges were filed this morning against former Broncos football player Tyrone Braxton including a felony drug charge and a prostitution charge.

Braxton, who was arrested earlier this month in Aurora, appeared in court in Arapahoe County with his attorney Anthony Viorst.

The former defensive back is being charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony; and patronizing a prostitute and possession of marijuana, both petty offenses.

Braxton, 41, had a small amount of cocaine and marijuana on him when he was searched by police Dec. 2 in the 14000 block of East Princeton Place, Aurora police said.

He allegedly agreed to pay 21-year-old Audrey Linda Rose Evans $600 for sex.

Braxton held a press conference in City Park after his arrest admitting he had a drug problem but denying the prostitution charge.

He declined comment today.

Evans and Grant Lindberg, 29, have been issued misdemeanor summons on charges of furthering prostitution.

Braxton’s next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 24.
