Forget “Blonde on Blonde.” Try “Lawyer on Lawyer.” A character patterned after Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic “Factory Girl,” about the rise and drug-hastened fall of 1960s actress/model Edie Sedgwick, has prompted the folk-rock legend’s lawyers to demand that screenings be canceled until they can view the movie before it is released later this month. The fear: that viewers might infer that Dylan was responsible for Sedgwick’s drug death in November 1971, several years after she and Dylan had become close while living in Manhattan’s infamous Chelsea Hotel. A letter sent by Dylan’s lawyers claimed that the portrayal is “defamatory” and demanded that all screenings be canceled. The Weinstein Co. has scheduled a limited Dec. 29 release for Oscar consideration.
Jerry Seinfeld is trying out his animated side in a DreamWorks production called “Bee Movie,” due out in November 2007. In it, he is the voice of a bee who leaves the hive and discovers humans have been stealing the insects’ honey. The move co-stars Renee Zellweger, who is the voice of Vanessa, a New York City florist. I think I’m bringing a different humorous sensibility to an animated movie,” Seinfeld, who also is writing and producing the movie, told Newsweek.
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton is being stalked by paparazzi – in court, at least. X17 Inc., a Los Angeles photo agency known for its images of stars in personal or embarrassing moments, has filed a $7.6 million federal copyright infringement lawsuit against Hilton, whose Los Angeles-based site, PerezHilton.com, posts tabloid photos of celebs and adds cheeky captions and rudimentary doodles. The suit claims Hilton used 51 photographs without permission, payment or credit, including images of a pregnant Katie Holmes, Kevin Federline pumping gas and Britney Spears showing her, um, assets.
