The Greeley Stampede proudly bills itself as the world’s largest “Fourth of July Rodeo and Western Celebration,” and it’s easy to see why.
The cowboy-centric event features top-name country acts, a demolition derby, parades, art shows, a kids carnival, a wine tasting and, of course, all the top rodeo stars.
The 85th annual Stampede, taking place June 22-July 4, has already announced concerts from country-pop superstars Trace Adkins (June 22), Brad Paisley (June 23) and Lonestar (July 4), with more to come. Attendees can pick and choose individual events or take the popular Stampede Stars & Spurs Package, which offers two- night show passes and one Pro Rodeo ticket for $25.
Tickets are on sale now at the venue’s box office at Island Grove Regional Park or via TicketsWest (866-464-2626 or TicketsWest.com).
The Rat Pack is Back! follows other successful tribute shows by re-creating the music of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. with slavish detail. If you missed the pack’s 1960s Vegas performances – and face it, you probably did – this might be the next best thing. Tickets for the Feb. 22 show at the Paramount Theatre go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($29.50-$49.50, Ticketmaster)
“Legends” bills itself as a “classic catfight comedy,” and who better to fill the dual leads than former “Dynasty” stars Joan Collins and Linda Evans? The story, by Tony Award-winning author James Kirkwood, concerns two fallen starlets as they desperately compete for what they believe to be a plum Broadway role. Tickets for the Feb. 6-18 run at the Buell Theatre went on sale earlier this week. ($15-$60, denvercenter.org)
Bill Engvall is a busy man, with a new comedy CD, autobiography, sitcom pilot for TBS and feature film on tap for 2007. The blue-collar comic will stop by the Fillmore Auditorium on Jan. 17 for the Concerts for Kids benefit and bull-riding competition, with local country-rockers The Railbenders. Tickets are on sale now. ($37.75-$60, $250 sponsor, Ticketmaster)
Larry the Cable Guy, another popular blue-collar comic, has added a second show to his Feb. 24 appearance at the Colorado Convention Center’s Lecture Hall. Tickets are on sale now. ($42.75, Ticketmaster)
Blue October sounds like it should be from anywhere but Texas, considering its cool, melodic songs and crisp pop sensibilities. The band will play the Ogden Theatre on Feb. 17. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($20, Ticketmaster)
Stomp offers another two performances at the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins due to a rapid sellout of its March 6-9 dates. Tickets for the percussive show’s 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. slots on March 10 are on sale now. ($36-$38, LCTix.com)
