LOCAL SCENE
That whooshing you heard wasn t Santa, it
was the sound of national bands vacating
Denver this week. Don t feel bad most touring
bands stay home the last week of December.
Into that vacuum pours our best local music:
Munly & the Lee Lewis Harlots
If you like your holiday cheer ladled with
100-proof gothic country, you ll love this excellent
lineup. The winner of the Denver
Post s 2006 Underground Music Poll will be
joined by Reverend Deadeye, Bad Luck City,
Paint Saints and Sputnik Slovenia tonight at
the Larimer Lounge s holiday party. 2721 Larimer
St. 8 p.m. $10.
Nina Storey
Boulder singer-songwriter Storey, Melissa
Ivey Band and the Fox Theatre team up tonight
to help the homeless. Feel good about
rocking out as you donate new or used
coats, gloves, hats, etc. to the Boulder Shelter
for the Homeless. Everyone who donates
will receive two raffle tickets to win passes
to any Fox show in 2007. 1135 13th St. 8:30
p.m. all ages, $12.
Tom Waits Christmas Show
What better way to stumble into Christmas
than with Tom Waits? asks John Common.
He will unite other Mile High City luminaries
for the Rain Dogs Tom Waits
tribute, Saturday at the Mercury Café. Also
up: Eli Mishkin (Hot IQs), Angie Stevens,
Josh Novak, Adam Lancaster (Morning After
Records), Marty Jones, Corey Teruya
and many others. 2199 California St. 9 p.m.

The Orangu-Tones
Catch the final Denver-area show from
these garage-rockabilly masters at their annual
Christmas toga party. That s right: After
this they re only playing two more shows
(in Austin, Texas, no less) before disbanding
permanently. Saturday at the Skylark
Lounge. 140 S. Broadway. 9 p.m. $5.
Jason Vigil
Fadó Irish Pub hosts a two-night stint with
this songwriter, who recently hosted a
sold-out CD release show at the Walnut
Room and is coming off a second-round victory
in the BODOG Battle of the Bands at
the Gothic Theatre. Tonight-Saturday, 1735
19th St. 10 p.m. Free.
Denver Art Rock Collective
A fistful of art rockers takes over the Larimer
Lounge tomorrow night for the Denver
Art Rock Collective s Christmas Party. For
$5 you can take in New Ancient Astronauts,
the Inactivists, Amphibious Jones, Yerkish,
