Wrong-headed decision
What is David Stern thinking by fining team owners when players brawl?
Stern should fine himself. Isn’t he trying to send the message that authority figures are responsible for the actions of their subordinates? Let’s face it, this will probably show up in the form of higher ticket prices for Nuggets fans, yet they are no more guilty of what happened on the court than the owners.

Star system all wrong
Highly talented athletes are often identified at an early age. They are accorded star status. Little accountability is expected, and they find the rules are often bent in their favor. They get passed through school without having to do much work or end up in watered-down classes in which the workload is minimal. In the pros, their agents and player reps keep them insulated from reality.
Is it any wonder we end up with societal dysfunctional misfits with no concept of proper behavior when they meet reality face to face? If we want to put an end to this, we need to start at the beginning and treat the budding athletic stars just like everyone else. In the long run it will be better for everyone.

Ignore the idiots
Melo, ignore the idiots who are going to write negative things about you because you make so much money or because you’re a role model. Haters hate. You made a mistake. Period. We all make them.
I know you will learn from this bump in the road and be a better person for it. You’re a good person with a good heart. Sometimes idiots forget what they did when they were 22 years old.

Shanahan’s blunders
I just watched the first half of the Broncos-Arizona game, and it was another two quarters of Mike Shanahan’s failed play-calling. Why does he take away the momentum of the offense that’s clicking on passes to run the ball with no deception? Third down and 3 or 4 to go near the goal line and he runs up the middle … like it’s going to work when it hasn’t all day! Every time the Broncos get in a rhythm, Shanahan takes them out of it. It is time for him to admit he can’t call plays, or maybe it is time to simply get rid of him.
