How’d you know?

Last week: “Dutch Mill” windmill, Hayden

The winner: Denise McDonald, Craig

Don Quixote would find his battle in the lovely northwest Colorado hamlet of Hayden. Located on the east end of Hayden on U.S. 40, the windmill was originally a restaurant called “The Dutch Mill.” I remember eating there in the early ’70s. It has since been a Dollar car rental office and most recently a candy shop.

Slow as she goes: Julie Mower, Wheat Ridge

This building served as a restaurant under several owners but never seemed to be able to make a go of it. It was my landmark to start slowing down on my way home from college in the ’70s, as the city police were very good at their jobs.
