THORNTON – Adams District 12 Five Star Schools has postponed reopening from the holiday break for at least one day because of the lingering hazards from recent storms, officials announced Monday.
Administrative staff, however, must report to work.
Denver Public Schools does not resume classes until Jan. 9. Classes in Jefferson County resume Monday. Aurora Public Schools students return Friday.
Classes resume in most other districts today.
The Douglas County School District issued a warning Monday to students returning to school from the holiday break and motorists in school zones: Be careful.
The district cited the blizzards that left many sidewalks, shoulders and streets icy and covered with snow.
Drivers were urged to use extra caution because students might be walking to or from schools or waiting at bus stops.
