Oprah Winfrey reportedly is giving up her $10 million Water Tower Place residence in Chicago and moving to an older building on the exclusive East Lake Shore Drive, according to janetcharltonshollywood.com. Winfrey had 10,000 square feet at the Water Tower Place residence, which was a collection of five condos. Her new $6 million condo is half the size. A source told Charlton, “The condo she’s moving into has views of the lake from every room and takes up an entire floor. The building is very exclusive and private – no riffraff. She’ll have more privacy there.” The major reason Winfrey is moving may be her beloved five dogs. The new building is more dog-friendly. Neighbors complained about Winfrey’s canines at the old residence.
Mariah Carey told Aspen Peak magazine she hopes to build a home in Aspen after spending 10 Christmases there. Carey, who doesn’t ski or snowboard, told the magazine, “I really would like to have a place in Aspen one day. I’m a very specific person. I built the place where I live now (in New York), and I’ve built places before. I kind of like things to be exactly how I like them. We know what that process takes … a billion years and a billion dollars! I think something on the outskirts would be cool … I really like the serenity, and it looks like something out of an incredible painting. It’s so gorgeous. It’s not just about celebrity moments there. It’s about fun. I actually go tubing all the time.”

The cast went on holiday break the following day, Dec. 21.
