Two teenage boys in Arapahoe County were arrested on suspicion of spray-painting graffiti, including a swastika, at a Jewish private school.

Investigators say some exterior walls at the Herzl/RMHA Academy were found defaced this morning. The word “Nazi” had been painted onto the main school sign, along with symbols and words about smoking marijuana.

Other locations in the area had also been spray-painted, along a path apparently leading toward an apartment complex.

A deputy spoke with a maintenance worker there, and learned that two boys had been looking for advice about how to remove paint from clothing Wednesday evening.

The officer interviewed a 16-year-old boy, who confessed to the vandalism. During the interview a 14-year-old showed up at the apartment. Investigators say the younger boy was also involved.

The 16-year-old was released into his mother’s custody.

The younger boy’s father was at work, so he was taken to a juvenile facility.

Both boys face felony charges of criminal mischief and misdemeanor charges of bias-motivated crime.
