Castle Rock police on Thursday were investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in the trunk of her car, but they could not classify the case as a homicide.
Linda Harley, 58, of Castle Rock had been missing for two weeks and was found in a Regional Transportation District parking garage near Park Meadows mall early Tuesday.
Castle Rock Police Chief Tony Lane said he is not classifying the case as a homicide until police gather more information about the case.
“We’re classifying it as a suspicious death at this time,” he said.
Lane said investigators were interviewing Harley’s husband Thursday, but police declined to release his name.
An autopsy is scheduled for today, Lane said.
Lone Tree police found the vehicle, and the car was impounded as investigators expected to gather evidence, Lane said.
The woman’s husband took the vehicle’s keys to the station, and police found the body in the trunk.
There were no obvious signs of what caused her death, and she was fully clothed and not bound, police reports said.
According to police reports, Harley was last seen by her husband about 8 a.m. Dec. 19 when she left for work. She never arrived at her job, and her husband reported her missing, police said.
The husband could not be reached for comment.
