A trio of upcoming snowshoe races is aiming to raise money for Danelle Ballengee, a Dillon adventure racing athlete who suffered a terrible fall during a trail run near Moab almost a month ago. The 4K and 10K Swift Skedaddle Snowshoe Adventure, founded by Ballengee in 1998, is set for 10 a.m. Sunday at the Silverthorne Nordic Center and will raise money to help the 35-year-old champion snowshoe racer during her recovery. Call 970-262-7375 to reserve a free pair of demo snowshoes. The Pedal Power Series devoted all the money raised in its final three races toward Ballengee’s recovery after her Dec. 13 accident. There are two Vail Valley races left in the series: 10 a.m. on Jan. 20 at Meadow Mountain, and 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Vail’s Lionshead Village.
