If you are in business, this being 2007, there’s a good chance that you are
also in the electronic World Wide Web business.
At ColoradoBiz, we are too.
But if our experience with the Web is any guide, it also offers a cautionary
tale for those businesses that have just entered or are considering adding
an online component to their operations.
There are bad people out there. They have
computers and software programs that prey on the weak and unprotected. Like
us, the folks at Wiesner Publishing.
Because we’re in the publishing business, and because publishing is
increasingly becoming an online proposition as younger computer users begin
to enter the business and political world that we at ColoradoBiz inhabit,
Wiesner Publishing and ColoradoBiz publisher Bart Taylor determined that our
magazine/s online offering needed to be strengthened.
Basically, that online quotient of our business was a startup in its own
right. Within a half year of debuting an entirely new CoBizMag.com website,
however, the site had become a startup that was threatened not by bad
technology, but by the bad people out there who want to hurt small companies
like ours.
We were hacked.
