A favorite of Catherine the Great, who first tasted stout on a visit to England, imperial stout is the perfect beer for cold winter nights – hearty and bursting with flavors.
Odell Brewing’s Imperial Stout is pitch black (no light passes through) with a sturdy off-white head. Malt and chocolate flavors predominate.
It’s a got a punch too, although at 7.1 percent alcohol (by volume) Odell’s version is a bit on the light side for the style. The brewer expects it to be available in Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico through April.
