Only 20 days into a new year, and already there’s so much good news:
At its 25th anniversary gala, Loveland’s McKee Medical Center Foundation honored its Friends of the Hospital committee, with special thanks going to Mary Gullikson. Twenty-three years ago, Gullikson campaigned to get McKee its first mammography machine; she also led numerous efforts to help fund the hospital’s Cancer Center.
“People cross the street when they see her coming because they know she’s going to ask them for something,” foundation director Julie Johnson Haffner joked while presenting Gullikson with a bouquet of burgundy-colored roses.
Haffner also noted “Mary does not work alone.” She has many “philanthropic friends who also believe in McKee and the strength it brings to our community,” including Solveig Lark, Dean Brooks, Ann Moore and Marilyn Heth.

A Tale of Two Brownstones is the theme for the Junior Symphony Guild’s 32nd annual Designer Showhouse,. Instead of renovating one of the area’s historic residences, the 2007 Showhouse starts with a blank canvas: two brownstone condominiums that have just been built at 2900 Inca St. Starting Monday, 30 interior designers will transform them into residences that will appeal to the global traveler and the modern family, but anyone interested in taking a “before” look can do so today through Sunday. Tickets are available at the door.
The new performing arts center at Kent Denver School, 4000 E. Guests are welcome; the $35 tickets can be purchased from Debbie Tryon, 303-699-8438.
Also on Thursday, Chris and Vicki Henry Harding open their home for a “literary feast” and author reading presented by Anne Randolph of Soup Kitchen Writing.
