Alameda East’s vet/comic/heartthrob Kevin Fitzgerald is back on Animal Planet for the 10th season, starting Monday night.
The eve begins at 6 p.m. with a repeat of the special “Emergency Vets: Things That Pets Swallow.”
“It’s 24 years of what I’ve found in Denver’s animals’ stomachs,” says Fitz. “From a ferret to a bunny to an iguana to a dog to a cat – they’ve swallowed a Master Lock, a bra, a thong, a Halloween glow-skull, coins. It’s astonishing what animals eat.”
Then at 7 p.m. comes the new season, “E-Vet Interns,” a double-episode look at seven young doctors working at the animal hospital this past summer.
“They see everything the streets of Denver can throw at them,” says Fitz. “I think it’s the best thing we’ve ever done.”
Meanwhile, Fitz is planning “Kevapalooza” for Valentine’s night at the Oriental Theater. It’s a revival of his famous “Love Show,” with belly dancers, jugglers, bagpipes, a female Elvis impersonator (Shelvis). Doesn’t that sound romantic? It’s a benefit for The Children’s Hospital.
One is the loneliest number
5280 magazine is out with its Single in the City issue, with 20 of Denver’s beautiful but unattached. A party for them – and a few of you – comes down Wednesday night at DC10 First Class Lounge.
That’s where the issue will be unveiled. Not so long ago, 5280 editor Dan Brogan wanted the annual singles issue to feature all unknowns. This year, says 5280’s Keely Rubis, there are some Denver bold names, “but not your run-of-the-mill sports celebrities.”
Also: a story about dating deal breakers. Oh, I have a few of those up my sleeve.
