A former Fort Carson soldier has been found guilty of raping and threatening his ex-girlfriend for hours.

Jerry Ciarcia, 29, was convicted Thursday on charges of rape, menacing, false imprisonment and assault. El Paso County Deputy District Attorney Robin Chittum said Ciarcia was acquitted of attempted murder.

He faces up to life in prison at his sentencing, scheduled for April 23.

The 28-year-old victim testified she had tried to break up with Ciarcia for weeks before the Oct. 13, 2004, assault.

Ciarcia was a member of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. He was discharged in November.
