BridgePort Beertown Brown Ale, $6.49 a six-pack
Beertown Brown is appropriately named, coming as it does from Portland, Ore., a town awash in beer with 28 breweries.
BridgePort, in its 23rd year of business, prides itself on its line of quality ales. Beertown fits right into its line.
British brown ales have become more popular as the brewpub revolution has swept America, but Beertown is a bit thinner on flavor than its British forebears, with a good malt aroma but not much behind. True to the style, there’s just a hint of hops in the finish. It has 5.2 percent alcohol (by volume).
Beertown is available through May in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico and Texas.|bridgeportbrew.com|Dick Kreck
