NEW YORK-

If you need a mid-winter vacation or an early spring break, check out the February issue of Men’s Journal, which lists a variety of beach escapes, islands for rent and other warm, intriguing destinations that the magazine groups together under the category of “Finding Paradise.”

The destinations include Tahiti, where you can stay at the Te Tiare Beach Resort on Huahine, the Maitai Dream Fakarava Hoel on Fakarava, or the Hanakee Hiva Oa Pearl Lodge on Hiva Oa.

Recommended luxury beach resorts include the Mauna Lani Resort in Hawaii, the Four Seasons Papagayo in Costa Rica, the Huvafen Fushi in the Maldives, the Bulgari in Bali and the Cayo Espanto in Belize.

Eco-lodges mentioned in the magazine include Chumbe Island in Tanzania, off Zanzibar; Tiamo Resorts, in South Andros, the Bahamas; Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica, Peru; and La Ruta Moskitia in Honduras.

Spas highlighted by Men’s Journal as part of the “Finding Paradise” suggestions include Lifetime Retreats on Kangaroo Island, Australia; and the Sila Evason Hideaway on Koh Samui, Thailand.

You can also rent your own island. Enedrik Island in the Marshall Islands is just $395 a week for four people, but of course you have to figure out how to get there; it’s 2,000 miles from Hawaii. Dunbar Rock Villa in Honduras is $999 a person per week; Pohuenui Island in New Zealand is $640 per night for up to eight people in a farmhouse; and Darby Islands in Exuma Cays, Bahamas, is $2,500 per night for eight. Also on Men’s Journal’s list are Necker Island, in the British Virgin Islands, though at $46,000 per day for up to 28 guests, it’s a bit out of reach for most of us; and Melody Key in Florida, 30 minutes from Key West, $7,800 per week for two.
