Yahoo Inc.: The Internet search- engine provider said fourth- quarter profit dropped 61 percent after delays in its newest Internet advertising software and costs from employee stock options. The company said net income fell to $268.7 million, or 19 cents a share, from $683.2 million, or 46 cents a share, a year earlier.
Sun Microsystems Inc.: The world’s third-largest maker of server computers reported a profit after five quarters of losses and said it received a $700 million investment from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. Net income was $126 million, or 3 cents a share, in the second quarter.
Advanced Micro Devices Inc.: The world’s No. 2 microprocessor maker said Tuesday it posted a net loss of $574 million, or $1.08 per share, in the fourth quarter, compared with a profit of $96 million, or 21 cents per share, in the comparable period of 2005.
Johnson & Johnson: The healthcare giant Tuesday posted a 3.5 percent increase in fourth-quarter profit. The New Brunswick, N.J., company reported net income of $2.17 billion, or 74 cents per share, up from $2.10 billion, or 70 cents per share, in 2005’s final quarter.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp.: The second-biggest U.S. railroad said fourth-quarter profit rose 21 percent on growing coal shipments. Net income increased to $519 million.
