System’s versatility speaks for itself

Logitech expands the role of PC speakers with a speaker system that can charge, play and sync docked gadgets – such as MP3 players, cellphones and personal digital assistants – with your PC. To dock a device, simply plug it into a cradle in the system’s control center.

If you have an Apple iPod or Microsoft Zune player, you can even stash it inside a fitted tray. The X-240 PC speakers can, of course, also play music from your computer. The speakers will go on sale in April for $50.

Portable USB hub lights up notebook

If you can overlook this gadget’s clunky name, the Travel USB 2.0 4-Port Hub With Notebook Light could prove to be a valuable traveling companion. Designed to work with a laptop, Targus’ USB hub can be connected to four USB devices at once. You can, for example, connect it to an MP3 player, a portable mouse, a USB drive and another device at the same time. When you need to work in the dark, the hub’s integrated light can be swiveled 180 degrees and clipped to your notebook screen so you can see your keyboard. It costs $30.

Computer device organizes digital content for HDTVs

Netgear’s Digital Entertainer HD lets you enjoy your digital media on a high-definition TV. When the digital media receiver is connected to your home’s network and TV, it automatically searches and organizes all the digital movies, video clips, photos, music and other digital media stored on your networked computers, hard drives and USB devices.

It then organizes the files into a searchable library that can be viewed on a TV. With the included remote, you can quickly find and select whatever you’d like to see or hear, be it a YouTube video clip, a vacation slide show, a high-definition movie or a favorite Apple iTunes playlist. Priced at $350, the digital organizer will go on sale early this year.
