A 53-year-old woman was killed in an accident early Sunday near exit 100 A on Interstate 25 in Pueblo, police said.

Her name was not released because authorities had not yet notified her family of her death.

The woman was driving a silver 1998 Ford Ranger truck northbound on Interstate 25 shortly before the crash. When she exited the interstate, the truck collided with the west side guardrail of the exit ramp and continued contact with the guardrail for several hundred feet, police said.

At the top of the exit ramp, the truck continued northbound and crossed both the east and west traffic lanes of the Highway 50 bypass.

The truck then jumped the curb and rolled down the embankment, coming to a rest on its tires.

The woman was taken to Parkview Hospital and later died of her injuries.

Police say the woman was wearing her seat belt and alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
