An arrest has been made in a 20-year-old homicide, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said today.
Carol Murphy, 27, was found strangled in Lefthand Canyon, about 5 miles east of Ward, in 1987.
In 1999, Boulder County sheriff’s detectives said they believe they know who killed Murphy her, but did not have enough evidence to make an arrest.
But now they are holding Kevin Elmarr, 49, of Longmont on $500,000 bond in connection with the homicide.
Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle scheduled a 3:30 p.m. news conference today to announce details of the arrest.
