An overhead electric wire serving RTD’s southeast light rail line broke between the Nine Mile and Dayton stations early Thursday morning, forcing the agency to run single-track service in the area for H trains to downtown until full service was restored about 4 p.m. For a time before single-track train service was started Thursday morning, the Regional Transportation District moved train commuters by bus between Nine Mile and Dayton.

The cable break, which occurred around 4:30 a.m., also forced the Regional Transportation District to halt G train service between the Nine Mile and Lincoln stations and require G riders to transfer at the Southmoor station.

RTD spokesman Scott Reed said the agency did not know if unusually cold weather was a factor in causing the overhead wire to break.
